When you are training for a competition your whole team trains with you.
Whether they compete or not, when one is preparing for an upcoming event we all help him push forward and vice versa.
as a team mate and a competitor you have 2 main roles: the first one is to be the “friend” the one who will encourage the others to push themselves to better themselves.
the second role is to be the toughest and meanest opponent they could ever ask for. “no more Mr. nice guy”
the hard part is to balance those two roles. you need show no mercy, you need to try as hard as you can to make them feel miserable and push them to their breaking point.
as teammates we try to simulate as close as possible the feeling of a competition in training. trying to do our best the we can and mimicking different fight styles of different opponents that might try on us
BUT
we cannot forget that after training is done and the timer is up, we need to shake hands, help the other get up and thank them for another great training to get us all to reach our goals, because we can’t do it alone.
