Mental toughness is something that you can work on, it’s not “either you have it or you don’t”, it is made up of many vital components.
A critical group of core components, composed of all factors, both into negative and positive life experiences. These include intelligence, self-belief,
resilience, emotional awareness, success mentality, optimistic thinking, intentional control, as well as handling challenges.
Being mentally tough signifies having the “edge”, which allows you to cope well than others with the various demands and to become more consistent. This will enable you to get the upper hand from your opponents in keeping focused, determined, confident as well as in control under pressure.
Let’s break down 2 major factors:
Motivation can be divided into 2 categories. Internal and external. External motivation can be tough as “I want to earn more money” or “I want to get
famous” internal motivation comes from inside and that’s why it can be powerful. keeping that motivation in a long period is vital for reaching your
aims. Elite athletes never allow minor flaws and failures to stop them from reaching their long term goals. They make use of failures and mistakes as an opportunity to learn and enhance, not a reason to quit.
In the tournament, there are lots of interruption that they need to deal with, such as opposition coaching, crowd noise, announcers, photographers, and
many more. That is all on top of adrenaline and nerves, which are part of organized competition.
Being capable of tuning all these distractions and kept focused on your goal, follow your game plan and strategy while concentrating only on one voice,
your coach. It is a vital trait to have to become successful in the fight. Brazilian jiu-jitsu is also about the mental fight than a physical one.
Therefore, BJJ athletes have to train their minds to concentrate on the jobs at hand.
Understanding how to control your focus and motivation will enable you to stay mentally strong during a tough times and when you find yourself
under pressure situations. Once you have set goals and keep disciplined to follow them, you owe it to yourself to remain relaxed and composed and
allow your skills to manifest on the mat in a superior BJJ display.
To develop and sustain the type of mental toughness Stop the habits that result in bad performance and bad toughts.
Help keep yourself ready for no matter what comes your way in the future by practicing good habits and good attitude
One of the most important recipes to success is your capability to be comfortable being uncomfortable.
Remember that your comfort zone is your ultimate enemy. It makes you soft, and it results to self-satisfaction.
You need to consistently and continuously step out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself. After all, there’s no reward for playing it safe.
An athlete who could push himself further after the situation gets uncomfortable is the one who’ll win. That’s what makes excellent players so deadly. They flourish in adversity.
Keep in mind that mental toughness is the passion and persistence to accomplish long-term goals. If you are eager to step out of your comfort
zone today, you will reap the benefits ten times over in the future. However, you need to have the bravery to sacrifice your personal contentment.
Every time you’re lifting weights, do you stop as shortly as there’s a minor burn, or do you push through and do more reps?
Every time you are running sprints, do you stop as short as you’re a bit winded? Or do you suck it up and run more?
Every time you are working on your ball handling, do you spend additional time on your off-hand, although you make more mistakes? Or you simply keep doing the drills you’re good at already?
The answers to those questions will identify how flourishing you’ll be next season. Keep in mind that you have to deserve success. For you to achieve that, you must leave your comfort zone today.
You will need a challenging goal to build mental toughness.
That goal should be physical, and it’s something that scares you. Take note that committing to a scary physical challenge will encourage you to make a
plan to accomplish your scary goal. That will encourage you to replace your habits to add daily activities to prepare you for the physical challenge.

You cannot easily think your way to becoming mentally, though. However, you can establish it by doing small stuff daily. You must record your wins
and rejoice your accomplishment when you do it.
Mental toughness should be worked to cultivate, just like a muscle. You will shrink when things get tough if you do not push yourself in small ways each
day. Financial strife, the loss of a friend, grief, and heartbreak could come out of the blue.
Thus, exercise taking the hard choice each day in each day. After all, it is your physical actions, which prove your mental fortitude.
Hope you will find it helpful!
