If you ever competed you probably did one of these 3 mistakes that cost you your match.
The good news is: you are human.
The even better news is: I will tell you how to deal with them.
BEING SCORED AT THE BEGINNING OF THE FIGHT: oh boy, that sucks. you feel your mind go crazy with unnecessary doubts and you start thinking about what just happened. You want to go into your match with confidence that you can dominate, but DO NOT lose your mind if you get scored on. simply keep your focus on scoring the next points, you have plenty of time and your focus should be on constant scoring and advancing your position during the fight, not on winning or losing.
WORRYING ABOUT GETTING TIRED: my personal fear. Doesn’t matter if you’re a pro or an amateur. What happens if you are worried about getting tired? You hold back. Or even worse, you will doubt your moves and fight conservatively early in the match. (check my website for tips on overcoming this fear)
GIVING YOUR OPPONENT TOO MUCH CREDIT: we have all been there. When we give too much credit for our opponent we almost completely destroy our chances of fighting well. The worst part is that if you keep doing it, it will be hard to advance into a higher level of competition. confidence is key.
Approach every fight as if it 0-0 with your best attacks with disregard of name, or quality of your opponent. Everybody can lose. No one is invincible.
Let me know if that happened to you before and on which one of these mistakes you would like me to write more!
